Why doesn’t Disney release their films before Christmas in the UK?
The Princess and the Frog and their new movie Tangled would be great movies to go and see before Christmas for the kids but we have to keep waiting until February.
I noticed that they are released in France, USA/Canada, and Australia/New Zealand in November but we have to wait until after the new year.
WHY?!
It can’t have anything to do with Christmas expenditure and recession. If it was it would be released after Christmas all over the world. The USA has just as many problems as the UK. Why then are other films released before Christmas? Most people are short of money after Christmas rather than before it.
Releasing movies at different times for different countries just causes piracy. If it was all released together it would cut down on people filming in the cinemas to sell to another country where it hasn’t been released yet.
Why is the UK always last anyway?!
One reason could be this- Christmas is expensive. At a time of recession it would not be wise to release a couple of films at one of the times when a lot of people simply can not afford to go.
Also, it would show why other countries released pre-christmas. The recession might not be as bad there.
Don’t take that as gospel-just a theory.
